G Force Vega GT This 1972 Vega GT came into the shop with only 44,000 original miles!  After stripping the car down to bare metal the fabrication team began stiffening the car up by welding solid all of the original sheet metal that was originally spot welded.  After adding weld in subframe connectors, it was time to install the 9" Ford rearend with tubular 3 link rear suspenion and coil over shocks.  The front suspension also received tubular components and heavy sway bar.  The lazer straight body received the mile deep black basecoat/clearcoat.  A 383 stroker small block will be topped with Edelbrock ram style fuel injection and backed by a 700R-4 overdrive trans.  It will breath through mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust.  The wheel of choice is American Racing Torque Thrust II's wrapped in BFG rubber. The plan for this car is to make it's maiden voyage on the Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour coming up in June!  Stay tuned and see how this pocket sized slot car will come together!
1965 Coyote Mustang  Mark Brown brought his 1965 Mustang fastback to HRE for the typical restomod treatment.  Upon teardown it was discovered that this thoroughbred was going to need serious surgery to bring it back to a better than new condition.  Rust and years of poor amatuer restoration work had nearly ruined the car.  Luckily it was a hill that the Hot Rod Express team would have no problem scaling.  With nearly EVERY piece of structural and body metal replaced, this pony will receive an all new coil over front suspension system, widened rear wheel tubs for canyon carving bigger rear meats, and the reasoning for all of this madness....the installation of a new Ford 5.0L Coyote powerplant that will make over 415 HP out of the box....Follow along as this race horse takes shape and prepares to take on the track, street, and show circuit!
