Barn Finds

Rick Hunter, Shop foreman and Co-owner of Hot Rod Express in Blue Springs, Missouri interviewed on Rides That Rock with certified racing instructor Ken Smiley in The Morning Sports Drive with Roger Twibell, former ESPN SportsCenter anchor on regional superstation 610 Sports KCSP, the NASCAR station on Restoring Cars for the Auto Auction Market.

Interview Preview: Is There $100,000 Collecting Dust in Your Garage?

(January 2009) Hot Rod Express has restored and won awards and huge premiums on the Auto Auction Market with classic and muscle cars buried in the back of a garage. But how do you know if your frog is a prince? Our chief technical correspondent Rick hunter discusses some ways to find out. He says you really don’t know what you’re sitting on until you have an expert appraise it.

Rick helps you decide whether it makes sense to invest in some primarily cosmetic restoration work on “a find of a lifetime” or if you’ve got a fun toy that you can keep for yourself. Basically if a vintage car has good “bones” sometimes all you need are minor but high impact investments that yield the biggest return on investment at auction.
